I really enjoyed my time in Portugal. For Younglor et el, I am the original captain of GBH and came up with the name, since then I have been a sorrowful figure drinking in my dank little office and not being able to get out of the negatives. I will though. Drinking is my preferred hobby but when I can't, I go to my little fishing hut up the coast, no power or running water but right on the beach...very peaceful. I have a loving wife, 2 kids, & another one due Christmas Day, jesus christ!!! I try to be a dot com entrepreneur and have set up a little shopping site called www.stuffonsale.co.nz amongst other crazy non profitable ideas, such as txt messaging for pub Happy Hour Alerts and stuff like that. |

It is separated into 2 categories ; Chess improvement and GBH team improvement. I thought about things we could improve as a team each category. --------------- Chess improvement for GBH; -Analyzing games together *** -Discussion of openings and tactics -Review of past games with each other --------------- Team improvement for GBH; -Improving team spirit -Improving team activity in the forums -Reducing timeouts -Maybe having some kind of a social class ;) -Some kind of “Global Bounty Hunter of the month” thing *** My thoughts about Chess improvement; I think we could start something up simple as looking over a game and analyzing key points of the game, openings, endgames….anything that could be discussed to improve our chess. It would be something as the Amateurs mind. A good site to find games is www.chessgames.com where they have something as the game of the day…. This idea came up to me when I and my friend Jeffz_2002 were talking about how we could improve our chess. Any thought on this??? My thoughts about GBH improvement; The main thing I was thinking about was if we could implicate some kind of player of the month…so that it would become interesting once in a while…maybe a few laughs. The player of the month would be voted by everyone in GBH according to his score improvement, his sportsmanship, his activeness, team spirit, and just about anything possible. The only problem I thought about was that Stinky would probably win all of these since he does such hard work for us… I like the thing you guys did with the logos, ahhhhhhhhhhhh....patrotism.... I don't really know how we can reduce the timeouts...this should be our main goal for now.... My 2 cents... Steven GGBH!!! |

| Posted by astinkyfart beck-web.com 11/11/2003 12:48:52 play online chess | here is some more inspiration Message: of a different sort. these tips for team play will help the team in the long run. although for your personal rateing (if thats all you are shooting for?) may take a hit. 1. playing opponents ranked higher than you will help in two ways. one way is you might be able to better your play from playing stiffer opponents. second way is ..if you do lose your rateing will drop resulting in a better match up for you in team play. if your average opponents rateing is lower than your own (by the way i think mine is now due to elo) then you are probably over rated. if your maximum opponent won against in the last fifty days is lower than your own rateing then you are probably over rated. im not trying to make anyone mad or point any fingers, like i said before i fall into one of those catagories myself. if we truely want to be competitive and as individuals want our team play to be better this is something to think about. if you play weak opponents you will suffer in team play. this is a fact. now im not saying that everyone with a bad team score is guilty of this. this is only part of the equation. sometimes im partly to blame because you are out matched. but... i dont have time to check the history of every opponent we face therefore you might get a game with someone that has the same rateing unknown to me they are undefeated and on their way to a 2000 plus rateing. but... this also works in our favor as well hence littlemissnaughty. i will not tell anyone what to do in their spare time but we would do the team and ourselves a favor if we turned it up a notch on the playing field in our personal games. im tired of this team suffering we are too good for this..as chess players and as people. lets get to zero and lets be determined about it. i know i am and if i know this team so are you!! What he has being trying to tell us, is that a group will only succeed if its players work as a team, not individuals. To make flyerguy happy, this is clearly shown in the game of hockey. If a team's players only think about themselves, scoring goals for themselves, not passing and trying to raise their own pointage, the team, or should i say individuals, will never, and i mean NEVER succeed. (in our case this is rating) But, lets say (to make Mark happy) Philedelphia's flyers work in a group, pass and such, this team has a good chance at the Standley cup. Now we must make a few sacrifices, but ultimately, this will bring us great happiness. This team has wonderfully talented players, with plenty of fight spirit! Is it a possibility to accept/decline a match set up by the other captain? If we are ever going to reach 0, it will certainly help if we get good match-ups. As a rule of thumb a match is good for us if the sum of our ratings exceeds the sum of the opponent team ratings (if players are matched within 100 points difference). And, of course... GO GBH! |
