Hong Kong Prizes for 2024

The South China Morning Post has picked up 12 prizes, including the Best Scoop award, at the Hong Kong News Awards 2024. Senior reporter Edith Lin and news editor Jeffie Lam won the prize for exposing the unauthorised structures added to luxury properties.

Athletes from Hong Kong have taken a number of medals in the 2024 Paris Olympics so far, and they are set to add more when the competition concludes this week. The city is also putting extra incentive in place to encourage athletes, with a rewards scheme boosting the amount of money awarded to top-three finishers in individual events at the event.

HK Science and Technology Innovation Prize 2024

The BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize was established in 2006, with the mission of attracting global top scientific talent, nurturing forward-looking scientists and building Hong Kong into a technology innovation hub. It is one of the most prestigious research prizes in Hong Kong, offering a total of over HK$3 million in cash prize to five scholars at local universities for their outstanding contributions in the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics, life and health, new materials and energy, and advanced manufacturing.

Hong Kong scientists are continuing to impress the international community and the Mainland with their groundbreaking research. This year, three of the Future Science Prizes were awarded to researchers from our city, including Life Science Prize Laureate Dennis Lo Yuk-ming, Physical Science Prize Laureate Luk Kam-biu, and Mathematics and Computer Science Prize Laureate Mok Ngai-ming. Their research has contributed to the advancement of Hong Kong’s overall technological atmosphere and allowed Hong Kong’s scientific achievements to gain more attention in the world.

HK Science and Technology Innovation Competition 2023

The HK Science and Technology Innovation Competition is an inter-school research project competition for secondary school students in Hong Kong, organised by the Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation and sponsored by BOC. The contest aims to enhance the quality of students’ learning by encouraging them to explore real-life issues through research and investigation, as well as to develop their communication and teamwork skills. Each student from the shortlisted teams will receive a medal and a certificate, and each school will get a trophy. The winning teams will be chosen on the basis of their written report, degree of participation and research findings. In addition, a school development fund of fixed amount will be allocated to each shortlisted school.
