Domino is a popular game that involves laying down tiles to create a line of falling pieces. It’s also a metaphor for the impact one tiny change can have on the whole. In education, the Domino effect occurs when students compensate for learning challenges with other skills. Over time, these compensatory skills begin to inhibit the development of new, necessary skills. This impacts the student’s overall learning, much like the way that one small domino can knock over an entire line before it is built.
A domino is a rectangular tile with a single asymmetrical side and a pips pattern on the other. The pips, similar to those on a die, have different values, from six to none or blank, depending on the variant. The domino is typically twice as long as it is wide, which makes it easier to re-stack after use. Dominoes may be made of natural materials, such as bone or silver lip ocean pearl oyster shell (mother-of-pearl), ivory or a dark hardwood such as ebony; or they can be produced from synthetic materials, such as polymers or plastics.
Domino has the ability to influence the laws of probability and shift odds in her favor, making her a formidable foe. She is a weapons expert and is an adept martial artist, athlete and linguist. In addition to psionic powers, she has superhuman strength, speed, endurance and agility. She can also teleport short distances.
Able to use her psionic abilities to teleport objects, Domino is an expert at moving and positioning herself in battle, and has a reputation for being very lucky, earning her the nickname “Domino.” She has strong precognitive skills and can telepathically read other mutants’ emotions, which make her a great teammate. She is the leader of the Wild Pack, a mercenary group led by Cable, and she has a romantic history with him.
In the future, a future version of Domino, disguised as Stryfe, travels back in time to help Cable defeat the being known as Skornn. The two later become lovers.
During the events of M-Day, Domino helped Cable restructure X-Force. She teamed up with her former Wild Pack teammates Grizzly and Hammer to free mutants from sequestered by the Office of National Emergency, but she was later attacked by the emotion-manipulating Psycho-Man, who convinced her to attack Copycat, whom she still resented for her role in her yearlong captivity.
Domino rejoined X-Force when she was offered a job by Pete Wisdom to turn the team into a proactive black ops unit. During a reality-overlap with Reality-295, Domino and Cable confessed their true feelings for each other. Following that, Domino helped restructure the squad before being recruited by Garrison Kane to investigate a murder by feral mutant Grizzly and his associates. She was also tasked with sabotaging Rumekistan and Cable’s island paradise Providence in an effort to tarnish the latter’s international reputation. Afterward, she and Kane investigated a series of mutant assassinations in London.
