The Sidney Prize

The Sidney Prize is an award given monthly for an outstanding piece of journalism. Nominations can be made by e-mail to the Foundation, or via the online form. The deadline is the last day of each month. The winner will be announced on the second Wednesday of each month. Nominations can be made for one’s own work or someone else’s. The winner will be notified by e-mail. The winner is also presented with a certificate designed by New Yorker cartoonist Edward Sorel.

A sidney prize can be awarded for a number of different things, from academic achievements to political activism. It can also be given for a piece of journalism or a literary work. Some prizes have a long history, while others have only recently been established. The National Association of Scholars, for example, has a prize named after Sidney Hook, in honor of the American philosopher. It is given at their annual conference to a Phi Beta Kappa member who has distinguished himself or herself in scholarship, undergraduate teaching, and leadership in the cause of liberal arts education.

Sidney was a great philanthropist, who worked tirelessly for social reform and civil rights. He was a founder of many private and public philanthropic organizations, and held positions on numerous boards and committees. In the late 20th century, he donated his fortune to support numerous projects that would promote equality for all Americans.

He donated over $50 million to support the causes of racial and economic justice, and was honored with the Sidney prize in 1938 for his work towards achieving equal rights for African Americans. He was also awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the early 1970s.

A Sydney prize is often based on a written submission, and may be given to an individual or organisation. There are a variety of different types of Sydney prize, including poetry prizes, plays and essays. The majority of these require a submission of an original piece of writing on a specific topic, which must be submitted anonymously.

Sidney is a place that has always punched way above its weight. Whether it be our Nobel Prize-winners, Elizabethan brickwork, haunting Chapel, exquisite rococo Hall or medieval cellars, the city is full of surprises, and a Sidney prize can be your ticket to discovering them. It’s a great way to see all that our fantastic city has to offer and to make some new friends along the way. So, what are you waiting for? Start your adventure now!
