The hongkong prize is one of Asia’s most prestigious science prizes and attracts many applicants each year. Applicants are evaluated on the quality of their research as well as its impact on society. Those who win the award will be honored at a ceremony and will have access to research facilities in hong kong.
Besides the main prize, there are other categories that honor individuals and companies who have made significant contributions in the fields of entrepreneurship, innovation, environment, and culture. To qualify for the hongkong prize, scientists must be first authors of an original article published in the HKJO during the previous year. The articles should be clinical studies (including prospective or retrospective clinical trials), observational or epidemiological in nature and have a solid scientific base. Submissions awaiting publication or letters to the editor will not be considered.
The hongkong prize was founded by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Associations in order to encourage young people to be active in their community and have an understanding of Asian cultures. The winner of the hongkong prize will be awarded a cash prize as well as a trip to hong kong. In addition, the runner-up will be awarded a HK$20,000 grant to help fund their next art project.
Last year’s hongkong prize was awarded to a team of scientists for their work in artificial intelligence and robotics. The winning team was composed of members from the University of Hong Kong and TUBE, a company that produces robots. Meanwhile, photographer Sam Tsang won the best photojournalism award for his image of a woman waiting at the airport. In addition, the paper won the best business news reporting prize for its story on how companies are preparing to meet environmental, social and governance requirements. The awards were previously administered by the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Hong Kong, but they were taken over by Human Rights Watch and Arizona State University following the imposition of a controversial national security law in Hong Kong. This resulted in the closure of several media outlets.
