The Hong Kong Prize 2023

The hongkong prize is an award that honors scientists whose research has a significant impact on society. It is open to researchers worldwide and is selected through a rigorous peer review process that is free from sponsorship or special committee influences. Winners receive monetary prizes as well as international exposure at the awards ceremony. The hongkong prize was established in 2022 with a donation from the family of Hong Kong historian Wang Gungwu. It is designed to encourage students of all ages to engage in historical study and research.

hongkong prize finalists include a student who used technology to help homeless people and an artist who reinterprets human rights into fine art concepts. The winning scholars are also encouraged to share their findings with the world at large and are given scholarships to support their studies. These scholarships are worth up to HK$25,000. Peony Sham, a Year 12 student from Harrow International School, won the top prize this year for her work on mental health. She founded a global youth initiative to promote peer support among young people on issues that affect them.

Scientists can apply for the hongkong prize by submitting an article that meets certain criteria. The research must have been conducted in Hong Kong, and it must be an original article published in the HK Journal of Medicine during the calendar year. The article must be a clinical study (including prospective or retrospective clinical trials), an observational or epidemiological study, or a basic science study. In addition, it must be the author’s first-authored article and not a letter to the editor or a review.

The 2023 Hong Kong Arts Prize will take place in the Goethe-Gallery & Black Box Studio, a non-profit space that provides regular artistic dialogues and discussions to encourage a dynamic exchange of ideas within the local art community. The theme of the prize this year is “Our Changing World”, which invites artists to explore how global evolution – socially, culturally, technologically and environmentally – impacts each of us differently. The jury will evaluate the entries based on the following criteria:
